Art Doctors: Who’s Afraid of Contemporary Art? Exhibition

Tue, 23 April 2019 - Sat, 27 April 2019

Leeds Kirkgate Market

FREE

The culmination of our Who’s Afraid of Contemporary Art? project was an exhibition at Leeds Kirkgate market, where we showcased the work and thoughts of the participants, showed films they had created, and premiered our Toolkit for Gallery Visits, and facilitated activities such as making capes and still life drawing from other market stalls’ produce.

Who’s Afraid of Contemporary Art? was a long term project, funded and supported by Leeds Inspired, Leeds Art Gallery and East Street Arts, where we worked with a number of community groups in Leeds (Heydays, 105Women, Meet and Make/Art Chat, LAG Youth Collective) to explore what contemporary art meant to them, what barriers they might experience in engaging with it, and to develop ideas for a Toolkit for Gallery Visits.
