WOVEN Represents Kirklees at UNESCO Learning Cities Event
At the end of January the WOVEN team took part in the 4th Learning Encounters 2026 in Clermont-Ferrand.
Founder Natalie, along with Julia Roebuck from Thread Republic joined a fantastic exchange hosted by the UNESCO Learning Cities French Network and Institut d’Auvergne du Développement des Territoires (IADT).
We shared how WOVEN connects local heritage, creativity and opportunities for young people, and met organisations doing powerful work around agriculture, textiles and community learning.
Some of the highlights included visits to the Roger-Quilliot Museum of Art, the Textile Biennale Clermont-Ferrand and the inspiring Lainerie du Gévaudan, a rural museum and social enterprise using wool skills to support people back into work. Huge thanks to UNESCO Learning Cities and a special thanks to University of Huddersfield School of Arts and Humanities and Rowan Bailey for recommending us for the exchange. We’re so excited to keep the conversations (and collaborations) growing.
